Trillian - Get out of my life
Trillian worked for me ever since its inception some years ago. But I just can’t deal with having to pay to use Google Talk on it. Oh well. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Pidgin. A nice and clean website, which seems to be the order of the day. Simple download. Quick installation. Flawless connection to every kind of chat that is out there. I love you my sweet little Pidgin. Eat crap Trillian.

Microsoft - Pack Your Bags
I must admit that I still use Microsoft Office for writing letters and making ridiculously simple spreadsheets. I don’t know why. However, I’m an unashamed fan of Microsoft OneNote, which is the best thing since sliced bread. I’ve been using it for over a year and have a HUGE document repository on it. Then came along Microsoft’s Foldershare and fixed the only missing link for OneNote to get even better. I could now keep my OneNote files synced between the laptop, home, and office PCs. Life was never so good. Until yesterday. I discovered EverNote.

Karma
Read this somewhere on my chat.
“if you do negative things, you’ll see negative results in your life.
Oh well, there’s also the idea of emptiness.
Nothing is intrinsically good or bad.
Your karma is what makes you see things as good or bad.
Like, if you’re seeing me as an angel, you have good karma”

Why oh Why?
I can’t understand why someone would use the following words about me:
You will not be surprised to learn that even successful and accomplished entrepreneurs find their legs turning to jelly when faced with a customer as difficult and arrogrant as FQ decided to be that day. [Jehan's blog]
It is called “Tough Love”.
As for the pictures, I’m glad to see that Jehan took my warnings seriously.

My Personality according to Chinese
Today my wife asked me what animal I was according to Chinese horoscope. When i told her I was born in the year of the dragon, she called me all sorts of nasty names. This is what Chinese astrology says about me. I leave up to you to judge if it’s true about me or not.
The Dragon personality The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune and sign of intense power, the Oriental Dragon is regarded as a divine beast - the reverse of the malicious monster that Westerners felt necessary to find and slay. In Eastern philosophy, the Dragon is said to be a deliverer of good fortune and a master of authority. Therefore, those people born in Dragon years are to be honored and respected.

I’m calling foul.
I am in touch with my lawyer Zahid Jamil about some very incriminating and defamatory photographs posted on various blogs. I am quite sure that these pictures have gone through a lot of electronic adulteration and thus fall under various clauses of Pakistan’s e-crime bill. I think it is my right to sue the likes of Jedi who claims to be my friend. But with posts like this and this, he’s definitely looking to talk to my lawyer. As for Mr. Owais, I want all pictures in these series, along with negatives and all copies made, immediately.
And those who are still wording their malicious posts (yes you Jehan), I would suggest absolute refrain. My hot lawyer is one tough cookie when it comes to winning phones for legal fee.
I’m open to out of court settlements and will be willing to drop my lawyer’s services if the offers are right. Failing any kind of settlement, I’d be left with no choice but to let you talk to my “Settlements Officer (aka The Goon)“.
All of you have been warned.

I don’t need no…. Program Launcher
Some days ago I had talked about sTabLauncher which would help put your frequently used links in tabbed groups. Some people commented that I’d be better off using things like Colibri or launchy. Thanks for those comments, because it got me thinking, I have the best launcher already installed on my computer. Those of you who have installed Vista, and obviously already gone back to XP (any sane person would do that), the only thing you could be missing is Vista’s built-in desktop search thing. Well… don’t feel so bad. If you’re sensible, you would have both google desktop AND Windows desktop search, installed on your XP machine. How does that help? These two screenshots should answer the question. In case you don’t notice, Windows search SUX in comparison to Google’s desktop search

Dark & Dusky
I’ve been very upset about all the “fairness cream” advertisements in Pakistan. I find them very discriminatory and insulting for a nation where easily 95% population is not exactly very fair (white). If it was in my power I’d ban all these promotions.
My good friend Faisal Khan has shared some videos on his blog which address this very issue. I found the this video of particular interest. Thanks for sharing Faisal.

Startup Insiders session #7 - Karachi
Here it is again. This time more focused, and hopefully better than ever. For those who have been coming to the sessions, you better be there. Those who have been procrastinating… oh well….
For details please refer to the following:

- Jedi’s blog
- Green & White blog - Even though they’ve dissociated from SI’s.
P. S. We obviously love talking.

Microsoft Foldershare
When Microsoft bough “foldershare” in November 2005, it looked like they just wanted to take out competition. But when a major update was released yesterday, I was pleased to see that foldershare has got the feel of live. And thank God Microsoft hasn’t blocked foldershare like it has done Skydrive for Pakistan. Since I have already been desperately looking for a solution to keep my various computers synchronized, in particular my onenote files, foldershare seemed like a godsent.
People don’t seem too impressed with the new foldershare and there are complaints of it crashing very frequently. However, I have installed it on my laptop and my home computer, and it seems to be working like a gem. Foldershare is keeping selective folders in synch across computers, and also letting me browse files on all connected machines through its web based interface.
I’m not sure why people are having trouble with the app. If it works for you, it’s definitely worth a try.
