Salam Faisal Uncle:

i watched the show as you recommended. :) The elder lady on the show said that: 'Dor-e-Jahalat Agaya hai'- again reminded me of what i said yesterday regarding my very first lesson of the Islamiyat text book.

I also just finished watching dateline and there was an awesome report on 'Gulabi Gang' in the very poor area called Uttar Pardesh. I have also send you the link. The gang has 40,000 members supporting for women's rights.Ms. Sampat- the leader of the gang said: 'How can people hate another woman?' She was referring to her treatment of 'untouchable' / 'achoot', as well as being a woman at the same time. She was married at the age of 12 and had her first baby at the age of 15. She beats people up when they are unjustice, and she made headlines when she beat up police for not supporting women who were in desperate need.

This is in india. I think i would rather see some of this in Pakistan. And from the way things are going, i believe soon something like this will emerge.

I would summarise the show as i always do.

1) Women and men-both should know women's rights.

Just want to comment that i remember studying  Haqooq ul Ibad in my Islamiyat book in class 6. Also, the well known'book Janati Zaywar', talks about duties of women and men. I request you to have a look at that book, because it is VERY biased (written by some molwi) yet, shockingly it is there on almost every dars' women have in our community. Disappointing.

2) No body encouraged women to fight for their rights.

Referring to so called leaders, politicians, local teachers. I hate to say this but i hate the way Pakistani teachers teach. They have NO sincere bond what so ever with their students. Women get beaten up by their families, teachers in class (that too of the same sex), husband- his family. And they will be beaten up until they die.

3) Women are weak  emotionally and physically.

Considering everyone's so keen to beating them up and killing them. No wonder they lack new perspectives and knowledge of their rights.

4) Nikah name- another issue.

Relates to the topic of marriage i believe.

5) Preference are still boys.

When my father went to hajj for the very first time in his life. He asked for a daughter. And Allah miyan send me down. :)

But i have gotta say sons are everything to 'them'. I don't know how to change this ridiculous ideology of east. People have been working on this for over a century now. :(

The solutions mentioned were:

1) Awareness

2) Better facilities and services for health and education for women.

3) Equality. (i just want to write a quote that i have got on my study desk- It says: ' No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. Muhammad Ali Jinnah).

3) Promoting HUMANITY.

4) Encouraging women to speak up.

5) Other Alternatives for women to support themselves than just getting married. (Gawd: we are back to the start).

My solutions:

1) Adevertising Quranic verses regarding women's rights on TV channels. Like it is done for hadiths and quotes of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

2) I strongly believe in the power of 'HUG'- when a woman hugs another woman, and tells her that she 'understands' and reminds her that she is with her. I can't tell you what a power a hug can bring to the other weak and helpless woman. It's so amazing. :)

I hope this wraps it all up. Though i will try getting some more suggestions from my friends. :) And yes, big thanks to theKhushbakht Shujaat and Nargis Rahman, as well as to those callers who brought 'dard to their dil' and felt women's pain.

Mr. Faisal! I called in Karavan today. We talked great stuff on the show, yet when it came to action situation, we turned our faces away or may be we didn't appreciate the situation well enough. I tried to call again but, couldn't succeed because the programme was about to end. I wanted to request Mrs. Khush bakht Shujaat to take just one responsibility in order to add objectivity to your programme. the second last caller had said that she knew a man who had raped his daughter and murdered the kid on birth and was in jail for last two years. If this man can be tried by the court and a death penalty can be announced within a week or two and the verdict can be broadcasted on TV (which is not a big deal if a parliamentarian pursues it with some vigour), it may be the first practical step towards women empowerment. It may sound harsh, yet an animal of his kind deserves even worse. Regards.

Tahir

Beta! You are right. But, I have an encouraging news. There still are people who pray Allah to give them a daughter as their first child and I am one of them. My Mother (May Allah Bless Her Soul) also used to pray for daughter after marriages of my elder brothers. Haalaat bohat bure haen, but Allah hamari rehnumai kare, we will change it with the help of people like Mr. Faisal. @Faisal Bhai! keep the good work up.

Rida

Thank you Mr. Tahir, really appreciate your sincerety and encouragement. Just gives me hope that not every man out there is a 'whayshi animal'.

This father raping daughter thing is getting so common. :S This is the 4th case i have heard in the past year and a half. Started off from Austria, a man named Fritzl raped his daughter, had 7 kids with her- that too under the basement of his house. Then a case from Britain who raped two of his daughters. Later another horrifying case within my own state of Victoria, of an Australian man raping his daughter and kept her for 30 years and had children. And now last night i hear another case of 13 year old girl raped by her Pakistani  father and was killed.

The punishment of the other three cases was life sentence in jail. Though i every scenario reports claimed that the 'predator' was 'mentally retarded'.

Disgusting.

Such an act can never be justified yet, learning about such an occurences elsewhere was not so mindboggling but, to learn about this shameful act happen within this Pak Sarzameen which is inhibited by us, who call ourselves Muslims, was really disturbing. I couldn't sleep last night. Mentally retarded, he has to be because a normal man cannot even imagine what this animal did. Islam gives us solution to this problem and that is death punishment in public, but we ourselves are afraid of Islam because we don't understand it . We don't know how practical and straight forward this beautiful religion is. May Allah grant us strength to stop such evils with force (Amr bil maaroof wa nahi anil munkar). Aameen.

Tahir

And beta! If you are in contact with Mr. Faisal or Mrs. Reema, please tell him/her to read my message and contact Mrs. Khush Bakht Shujaat, if she can do something about it. Coz i think that we talk too much but do too little.  Only if Mr. Faisal can announce the great news of punishment by the court in a couple of weeks time in any programme of his, to me, objective practical work on women rights would get underway.

Rida

i will see what i can do. :)

Tahir

May Allah bless you in your pursuits.
